Soakwells or stormwater pits are designed to manage stormwater on-site. Typically, they have soft bottoms and small divots in their walls, allowing water to leach through the sandy base. Over time, as debris and waste accumulate, a restrictive layer forms at the bottom, blocking the soakwells' ability to filter and disperse water into the surrounding soil, which can lead to flooding and drain blockages.
